Nvidia has given its Shield device a new firmware update that you can download and install immediately. Version 8.2.2 has some interesting new features to offer. A feature already requested by many fans is support for the use of Nex-tGen controllers. So it is now possible for you to use a DualSense controller from the PS5 or a gamepad from the Xbox Series X in conjunction with Nvidia Shield. There is also support for Control4 home automation systems. Here is the official overview of the changes:
New DualSense- or Xbox Series X / S controller with SHIELD couple
Connect next-generation console controllers to SHIELD and enjoy Android or GeForce NOW gaming with your favorite controller. At the beginning, start Bluetooth pairing on SHIELD and start pairing mode on the controller.
DualSense: Hold the PlayStation and Share / Clip buttons until the light pulses blue.
Xbox Series X / S: Press and hold the pairing button until the Xbox button flashes.
SHIELD TV now supports Control4 home automation systems
Navigate to SHIELD with the Control4 remote or app and even launch apps installed directly. Contact your certified Control4 installer to add SHIELD today.
